Hi, an acquaintance of mine is being held in the psych emergency ward while waiting for a bed to open up in another hospital where she'll likely spend 1-2 weeks and then be discharged. She has a service dog which is being taken care of by someone now but they cannot care for the dog much longer. Does anyone know what she can do with the dog while she's in the hospital in New Brunswick area? Please help, thanks!
Check the local humane society or shelter. When we had a fire, we needed a place for the rabbit while we found a new place to live and they took her for 3 weeks.
If this was a professionally trained (i.e. real) service dog, reach out to the dog trainer. They will 100% have options or will take the dog themselves. Alternative will be the breeder where the dog came from. Real working grade service dogs will always be well looked after by the these two parties.
