Hello Friends,
i am living in Jersey city, NJ and wanted to do camping in Delaware water gap. I wanted to leave on saturday noon time and wanted to come back by sunday evening. I wanted to spend some time hiking , canoeing too. I could find some addresses to do all these things but am confused about the over all trip. Can someone help me by letting me route and where to stop and what places to visit? Delaware water gap seems to be a large place

Yup just take Route 80 straight out there should be about an hour. I almost stayed at Worthington State Park for camping last year as they have new upgraded facilities but a storm forced me to cancel the trip. I will go back this year sometime. The campsites have great views of the river there and the hiking trails around the area have very rewarding views. You will have to travel a little farther if you want to do any kayaking or rafting.
Check out Milford, PA. Nice touresty but quaint town, lots of parks, camp sites, wonderful waterfalls (Bushkill, Dingmans, Raymonskill), nature trails, a beach. My favorite place is Child's Park. It is wonderful and has many great waterfalls and trails in a large woodsy area. In town has great shops and is a haven for local artests, and much more. Milford is close to where the NY, NJ, & PA borders meet. Was there this past weekend and loved it!
Almost 4 miles exactly from the 3 minute traffic light on coppermine road just off rt 80 there is a campsite, bathrooms and trailhead. Trail can be used to access Sunfish pond and the AT trail or just go along the mountain.
There are other campsites along the river as well.
Place gets crowded on weekends with overflow parking in the gap at the visitor's center on rt 80E and Dunfield creek hiking area on rt 80W.
Going north along the coppermine rd along the river you will find fewer and fewer people. Visit Van Kampens glen a bit further uop the rd.
Hike Mt Tammany form the Dunfield creek access for spectacular views.
Stop in the town of Delware Water Gap while you are there if you get the chance. nice little town with some
cute little restaurants. you can do the trolley tour too while you are there. You can take another route too.
get off of 80 at Portland and go over the portland bridge into Pa...this will bring you into Delaware Water
Gap via route 611...of course if you are just hiking or doing the river, then stay on 80 and get off at the park.
