Does anyone know how busy and crowded it is around the Hoboken PATH Terminal around 7-8am on a weekday? I plan on driving my fiancee down there eventually since she works in the city before I go to work west in Nutley. I'd be coming from Weehawken right off Boulevard East less than a 1/4 mile north of the Lincoln Tunnel. Thanks

Path is pretty crowded, but you can usually get on the first one that rolls in every 5-7 minutes. It is VERY reliable.

If you mean traffic? Hit it BEFORE 7. The problem being that Hoboken is fenced in by the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, so just about any route you take will have people on it trying to get to one of them!

My bet, however, would be coming in more from the south than from directly west or the north/west. I would give it a try, but leave yourself plenty of extra time the first day. You can reduce your time as you get more accustomed to the patterns, but I have just found rush hour traffic stinks in Hoboken (or, rather, AROUND Hoboken...)

Thanks....and yeah I mean as far as trafic by car to get down there. I will be dropping her off at the station and then coming back up to get on 495 west. Google maps says its 2.9 miles away one way down there and it'll take 7 min to get their but makes no mention of the time it takes to get down their when its busy.

Another option is for her to take the bus on Boulevard East right into the city. That would only take like 20 minutes from Weehawken.

Thanks...actually from where I am it'd take only 10-15. I guess the issue is since she works right down by the WTC, the PATH goes pretty close there so its cheaper than a NJ Transit monthly bus ticket and faster. The bus would take her to the Port Authority where she would have to transfer to the E and take another 20-25 min to get downtown. But yeah thats what she'll if I happen not to be around.

Know if there are any buses that go along Boulevard East down to the Hoboken PATH?

You would have to check on NJT, but I think the 158 (or is it the 156) goes into Weehawken.... I just remember busses going down along riverside near the docks (near the Hyatt?) right near the LT Helix.

And you are right, WTC from the Path is QUICK!!!!! (/jealous)

Driving will probably work fine, but you could drop her off at the Port Lincoln stop HBLR stop instead, then catch rt.3 via 495 to nutley.

I just saw the #23 NJ Transit bus runs from where I am to the Hoboken Terminal. Very infrequent tho but it does take the bus less than 20 min to get there from where I am so I think I'll be ok by car. I just didn't want it to be a parking lot

Maybe try the 89 bus. Runs along Park Avenue in Weehawken every 30 minutes. Bus trip to Hoboken takes 15-20 minutes.

However, the 89 bus routinely runs 10-15 minutes behind schedule when I ride it to Hoboken, although I only ride it on weekends. Return trip from Hoboken to Weehawken is usually on time.

Another option could be the ferry. Drive 5 minutes to Port Imperial, drop off your fiance at the ferry terminal, and the ferry ride downtown takes 15-20 minutes.

Thanks I'll take a look at the #89 bus. Unfortunately the ferry is so expensive compared to the PATH. The PATH runs $58 for a monthly ticket...and the ferry is $243 a month!
