I am considering moving to weehawken NJ and planning to take buses to NYC everyday. Can anyone let me know how bad the traffic is every morning and evening in Lincoln tunnel? How long it is going to take from port imperial weehawken (nj) to get off the bus in NYC around 6:30am and heading back 6:00pm everyday?
There is a separate bus lane for buses into the Lincoln Tunnel area until just before the toll plaza on the NJ side (going to Manhattan) in the mornings.
The traffic is really not all that bad, like PP mentioned there is an bus lane during rush hour. I suggest you check the schedule on the NJ transit website for your particular bus. NJ transit is pretty honest about how long the bus will take so if it says that you leave at 6am and get in at 6:15am you can pretty much count on it taking between 14 and 20 minutes.
Of course there will be days when there is an accident in the bus lane or the tunnel is really backed up and it will take a little longer but on those days you can always splurge for the ferry if you really need to be on time.
It's pretty much a straight shot through the tunnel if traveling prior to 7am.
