I'm having my old siding replaced with some quality new stuff on my house and there about about 8-10 guys doing the removal of the old siding and installing the new stuff. So far, they've been here about 4 days, probably have another 3 - 4 to go. The company sent the guys to install, nobody here is management or owns the company. It is a comparatively expensive job, over 25K.

There is also some minimal damage for which I will need repairs, like having Verizon come to my house to fix my phone line which is out (calls are now forwarded to my cellphone) because the phone and cable boxes had to be detached from the side of the house (I checked the boxes, couldn't find any loose or detached wires or I would have fixed it myself)), wood from deck and stairs slightly damaged (since they had to get around it to access that outside part of the house), and maybe more to come in the next 4 days.

I was wondering when it is all done, if some kind of tip is expected. I want to do the right thing.
What do you think?

Throw them some pizzas and drinks. They'll appreciate it and you won't be just another job.
Nice sandwiches another day...

I agree that treating them to lunch on one or two days is a good idea.
Years ago, I used to provide beer at the end of the day for workmen, but that is no longer a good idea.

To Memema and Retriever,

I think you are both right on with the suggestion. I was going to do that anyway when I'm home and they are working. There are days they've worked when I haven't been here so I couldn't work it out, but they will be here on the weekend, and I intend to do that.

Thank for taking the time to reply.

Steve
