I'll try inland...thanks for the suggestion! I have been to NJ (Brick Twp) a few times before in the Winter, I like it up there, and my friend has never been and would also like to see NYC, so I figured we would take a trip in the Summer when it's not completely freezing. It has nothing to do with that MTV show, trust me, lol. Anyway, thanks again!
There are some hotels in Toms river, which is about 15-20 mins. from the beach. I have heard fairly good things about the Quality Inn and the Holiday Inn. I'm not sure how expensive they will be but you could check them out since they are not right in a beach town.
Ok, I have a question...I was able to book a hotel in "Sea Girt" for 6 days pretty cheap. What beaches are nearby? How close is that to Point Pleasant? I guess I could look at a map..
Sea Girt is a nice little town. closest beach is probably Spring Lake, but I think you have to either own
or be a renter to get on their beach. Seaside Beach is open to the public as is Belmar, Point Pleasant.
You were lucky to get something at this late date. We too drive up in the summer from FL. mostly to
see the grandkids. Remember not only do you have to pay for parking in N.J. but you have to pay to use
the beaches too...Good Luck on your trip.
Try southern NJ area. You can have beaches, casinos, boardwalks, shopping etc. Marriott Fairway Villas in Absecon is beautiful. You can have a 2 brd condo with kitchen etc save money eating in. Only 10 min to beaches plus they have nice pools. Also close enough to Atlantic City,Brigantine, Ocean City, Ventnor, etc. The Manasquan/Spring Lake area is also nice but more quiet.

Sea Girt is on the ocean; it has its own beach. Point Pleasant is about 3 miles to the south. Yes, look at a map. It's not hard to figure out.

I would almost guarantee its not actually in sea girt but up on rt 35 in wall if its "cheap". Two of the motels there are fairly sketchy and I would not even go to a hotel party in them. The Days Inn is marginally ok.
Hopefully you got the Parker House which is actually in Sea Girt but I cannot fathom that its cheap.
Oh as for distance, it is about 5 miles down to the boardwalk in point but it can literally take HOURS on a friday night in the summer. I would advise taking the Jitney or the train.

Sea Girt has its own public beach. It doesnt even have a single beach club, same for Spring Lake and Belmar. Squan has a nice beach but its crowded and parking is a nightmare. Point is mostly private beaches like Jenks but they sell daily badges.
