Apparently O/W tickets (on trains) under old fares (pre May 1) are good until May 23rd. So techinically can load up on those and use them the first few weeks.

Anyone else have tips? Or has anyone else opted to car pool/bus it?

Let's share ideas/thoughts.

I think you might be mistaken. The one way OFF PEAK are only good until 5/23 (that is at least the way I read it)

Best is to stock up on old tickets, most regular one way tickets are good until use, except for the weekly, monthly, and off peak RR.

The Round Trip Offpeak discount tickets will be valid unil 5/23 and cannot be upgraded to any other ticket types according to NJT or refunded. The One way tickets are good for a year

One year? I was told they never expire. Not that I'd hold on to them that long.

I did confirm that o/w do not expire (o/wpeak) so I loaded up. Not givine 1 cent more than I have to.

R/T off peak good until May 23rd. Ridiculous that they can't be upgraded though?? NJT trying to bill twice now? Gotta love their "accounting".

if you take the train everyday like most commuters, isn't buying the post-hike monthly pass cheaper than using pre-hike one way ticket?

Yes. But if you are someone who might be taking even just 1-2 days off, do not go in every day , plus take into account months with vacation days (Mem Day, etc), it can be to your benefit. You have to do the calculations and compare.

Simply informing people of this one loophole. NJT certainly is not advertising it.

Additionally if you are a senior who must buy one way peaks to get the discounts--it is also to their benefit.
