Poncho -thanks for posting the Route 66 Summerfest info. for July 20th, 2013. My wife and I just visited both Albuquerque and Santa Fe and experienced the quiet and friendliness of those two New Mexico cities. Both have a lot to offer and enjoy. We'll definitely be back to both and I hope I can visit Albuquerque for the Route 66 Summerfest. My work will determine that.
We were surprised by the helpful young man downtown who offered to pay for our parking meter on 6th St. near Gold. Wow, we said thanks but we'll get it. There were some loud types down on Central near the Library Bar and Grill but hey, I've been loud before. That's not a crime. We were impressed by both Albuquerque and Santa Fe, both the cities and their people.
Enjoy a day at Cabezon Park in Rio Rancho viewing hundreds of classic cars from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 27. At this free event, classic cars of all makes, models and years will be on display. In addition, there will be music, food vendors, arts and crafts, and more. Cabezon Park is located at 2307 Cabezon Blvd., which can be accessed from either Golf Course Road or Unser Boulevard.
2013 Memorial Day Events in Timberon May 25 & May 26
Saturday: Debut of the Timberon Farmers Market located on Sacramento Drive near Kat's Timberon Mall. Opens for business at 1:00pm
Saturday: Live music outdoors next to the Timberon Gallery. Featuring the Timberwolf Band (classic rock and country). Music starts at 2:00pm
Saturday: Timberon Community Swimming Pool opens. See the Swimming Pool page for details and hours of operation.
Sunday: 7th Annual Horseshoe Tournament on the grounds outside the High Country Lounge. Cost is $20.00 per team. Sign up at 12:00 noon, games start at 1:00.

Entertainment at the Alvarado - a great reason to miss the bus!
ABQ RIDE has proudly offered public transportation to its citizens from the 1880s, first using horse-drawn wagons with benches, moving to horse-drawn streetcars on rails between Old Town and what is known today as Downtown, through today's modern buses and paratransit vans.
The Alvarado Transportation Center (ATC) was built atop the original Alvarado Hotel, incorporating graceful Territorial-style architecture, as well as the culture and history of the beautiful city of Albuquerque. Today, ABQ RIDE still aims to enhance the transit experience for its 13 million+ passengers and visitors who annually pass through the ATC. The Entertainment at the Alvarado series offers a variety of events at the ATC and created a hub of entertainment, culture, art and history in the heart of historic Downtown.

Saturday, May 11. The Great Bus Race, a scavenger hunt for people of all ages, using alternative transportation.

Memorial Day will be celebrated on 5/27/13 at the New Mexico Veterans’ Memorial park at 1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE.
A Musical Prelude will begin at 9:00 am followed by the Memorial Day Ceremonies at 10:00 am
Details On Monday, May 27, 2013, the city of Rio Rancho will recognize Memorial Day with a parade and remembrance ceremony.
The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. and head east from Country Club Drive down Southern Boulevard, and end at the Veterans Monument Park located on Pinetree Road adjacent to the Esther Bone Memorial Library.
Immediately following the parade, a remembrance ceremony honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in military service to their country will take place at the Veterans Monument Park.
The ceremony will begin at approximately 11 a.m. and consist of speakers including Deputy Mayor/District 4 City Councilor Mark Scott reading the city's official Memorial Day Proclamation and U.S. Senator Tom Udall.
