Catttle feed lots and dairie's in Alamogordo (Las Cruces, Clovis: home, living)

We are thinking of moving to Alamogordo, NM and were wondering if there are alot of cattle feed lots and dairy's there? We were going to move to Clovis but there is alot of stench there from these operation's. Any info would be appreciated.

I do not see any feedlots for Alamogordo, NM listed here: New Mexico Livestock — Dreaming New Mexico

The only feedlots I've actually seen in New Mexico are in Clovis.

The OP perhaps has heard of those along IH-10 south of Las Cruces. They don't seem to affect those living within the city limits but might be a problem for those in the smaller communities between Las Cruces and El Paso. Most of them are dairy operations as opposed to cattle finishing feed lots.

There are no commercial feedlots in Alamogordo, to be sure. Joqua is absolutely right about the dairy farming industry between the Mesquite and the Anthony exits (center point: Vado exit) between El Paso and Las Cruces. Sometimes, during the colder winter months, I can smell the cow manure from my home in Las Cruces.

The smell in Alamogordo is just fine. The scrub brush surrounding the area is called Greasewood and it has a pleasant smell especially on the rare occasion when it rains.

Yes, after the smell of chile roasting in the fall that's my favorite smell in NM.

Mine is the smell of blooming chamisa in the fall. Wet creosote comes in second. Scent of pines after a rain is also in there somewhere.
