Anyone that live in New Mexico ever been to Magdalena? I was wondering what sort of reputation it has and if it would be a good place to live if you want to get away from everything. Looks like less than 1000 people live there.

I've been there. There's nothing to remember.

We used to drive through Magdalena to visit our son who was attending NMT in Socorro in 2005 or so. In the early 2000s, I think folks tried to make it an up and coming artists' community, but that petered out because there is really not much there. I like the countryside. If you are looking for a place that is peaceful and quiet, I think it would be a match. And it is a short drop down the hill to get to Socorro and then up the interstate to Albuquerque. Pay the place a visit.

Edit - Look it up on Facebook. There are several stories about it from residents and visitors.
