As stated in the title. How much more will Los Lunas grow? Where are people coming from? Can this village handle the growth?

I would safely guess it will grow considerably. As Albuquerque resumes growth and builds out , population will move south to Los Lunas. Easy connection to ABQ.

Looks like, after 3 consecutive results of significant census data, the rate of growth dissipated greatly from 2010-2020:

From what I understand stay away from Meadow Lake. Los Lunas has a crime rate 55 times the national average.

Yes, Los Lunas is a good alternative to living close to ABQ and not in the big city. Thing is, we are pretty congested here now. Seems like the town is growing with out of state transplants. Could be good, not sure yet. Many seem to be rude and a few waving the Confederate flag on their trucks. Sure is changing around here.

It has grown greatly over the years. Yes, Meadow Lake is not a great area.

Los Lunas has the massive $6 billion Facebook data center project that will be continuing into the foreseeable future. It is providing 1,200 temporary construction jobs and creating at least 400 permanent high-paying jobs. The temporary construction jobs are lasting for several years and the number of permanent jobs may end up being more like 700 when the entire site is completed. That's a huge employment center for Los Lunas.

https://www.kob.com/albuquerque-news...exico/6019345/

Amazon is also building a facility just down the road from the Facebook data center. It will likely end up providing hundreds more permanent jobs once it's completed. The local news and government haven't revealed this project yet, but below is a construction video of the project. It's north of the Cerro de Los Lunas on New Mexico Highway 6.

Amazon is notoriously secretive when building its facilities but there's no doubt that this is one of their facilities going up in Los Lunas. All the companies involved in constructing it have also constructed the known Amazon facilities in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.

Los Lunas has these big name companies building there and this will continue to attract other companies and projects to the area in coming years.

Thousands of new homes are being built and planned in Los Lunas

Los Lunas is replacing and expanding its existing bridge across the Rio Grande and building another new bridge across the river to go along with a new interchange at I-25 that is also being built.

I think it's safe to say that Los Lunas will continue to grow rapidly and that it's trying to keep up with that growth.

All this growth is even spilling into Belen and the rest of Valencia County. Belen is seeing its first new homes subdivisions in decades.

Belen is also expanding its municipal airport with a new, larger terminal.

That's mostly because the entire Albuquerque metro area's growth slowed down dramatically in the last decade. The Albuquerque metro area grew by nearly 22 percent from 2000-2010 then slowed to just over 3 percent from 2010-2020. It grew to a population of 916,528 in the 2020 Census.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metr...atistical_area

Los Lunas is the third-largest municipality in the Albuquerque metro area and grew by over 16 percent between 2010-2020 to a population of 17,242 in the 2020 Census. That's comparable to Rio Rancho's percentage growth, which was the highest among the largest municipalities in the metro area. Rio Rancho grew by almost 19 percent over the last decade to a population of 104,046 in the 2020 Census. Albuquerque itself grew by just 3.4 percent over the last decade to a population of 564,559 in the 2020 Census. The previous decade Albuquerque proper kept up with the entire metro area's rate of growth of nearly 22 percent and added nearly 100,000 residents between 2000-2010.

https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fa...xico/PST045219

Places within the metro area like Los Lunas and Rio Rancho can certainly grow faster than other places in the metro area and the metro area itself. And even if the metro area slows dramatically these places can still grow considerably, even if not at the dramatic rates they do when the entire metro area is growing rapidly.

Thanks Albuquerque 101. I was aware of some of this, except for Amazon. I had heard a rumor about Amazon coming to Los Lunas about 2 years ago, but never anything concrete. Guess it makes sense with the plans for the Rail Park a few miles northwest away from the Amazon site. I wonder if Los Lunas and Belen will meet one day???

https://www.rio-re.com/central-new-mexico-rail-park

I live in the Buena Vista subdivision and we have seen a dramatic increase in the values of our homes. I think we can attribute increase to the current growth in new homes being built just blocks away. I guess I can presume the values will continue to increase for a while.

Sad to hear about confederacist flags. ABQ is one area my wife and are looking at for a possible move in the future (next year or 2) due to TX craziness (the Trumper Gov, AG, Cruz, Gohmert, abortion bounty hunters, govt control over what schools can teach, etc.).
