As of 2006 New Mexico was ranked 9th in the nation for the most gay men, lesbians, and bisexuals in the adult population;

Today, New Mexico still has no laws against same-sex marriages which most states do have, this means gay men and lesbians can still get married here and it would not count in any other state but here.

what is your input..

Default Friendly Pre-"Warning"

<MOD MESSAGE: OK folks...this thread is absolutely fine to stand and the OP had every right to post it as it certainly does relate to New Mexico.

However, ol' EnjoyEP has been around the CD Forum block long enough now to know that topics like this almost always result in deleted posts, edited posts, locked threads, etc.

Thus, as a friendly pre-cursor, if you wish to participate in this thread, by all means do, but YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED to stay within forum Terms of Service. Otherwise, your post will be deleted and more.

We likely all know the merits of the sides of anti-gay marriage and pro-gay marriage in a general sense. For conversation debating that, take it to the Politics & Other Controversies forum. If you wish to debate this on the merits *as it applies to New Mexico*, do so, but keep things cordial, non-personal, and adult-like.

Thanks.

Live and let live as the saying goes.
Whether heterosexual or homosexual, if one can find true love nowadays, I don't think it should matter if it's opposite or same sex.
Some people shouldn't be so judgemental.

It is a sin! It should be banned in every state in America! It is wrong and disgusting. Those people do things that barnyard animals don't do.

This thread isn't about what you do with barn animals.

imho
new mexico is as good an example as any. what we are witnessing is not so much a gay rights movement. we are witnessing the loss of faith and relevance of the institution of marriage. the reason for this has little to do with gay people as much of that is coincidental. it has everything to do with the deplorable current state of the marriage institution. marriage in its current format is not working for most americans. it could be that gay people may be trying to again make it a relevant institution.

What's a distraction and irrelevant is such minutia. What's of monumental importance is the economic future of this country and its sinking stature in the world generally. While we bleat and flail about personal choices our once great nation is losing credibility and clout globally. We need to concern ourselves with educating our children who score so poorly against those of almost all other industrialized nations. If we are to viably compete in the twenty first century with rapidly advancing technological leviathans like China and India and Japan and much of Western Europe we cannot do it slapping each other with bibles and looking backwards to simpler times. Like it or not, Pandora's Box is open and the world will never be the same as it was.
