I watched a show yesterday on the PBS channel that talked and showed some monkeys in the NM area and also talked about a building in Alamogordo that holds these poor monkeys that have been abused in there lifetime and are waiting to go to a place in Florida where a monkey sanctuary has been built.
Anyone know where this place is in Alamogordo?
I'd like to help out somehow if I can.

There are way too many opportunities for sarcastic answers to this one.

Seriously, I am glad that somebody is taking care of these abused creatures.

I'm not sure where that is but if it's closed, maybe the chimps are all living in Fla. now.
I don't know how old the show was I saw yesterday.

If i remember correctly it's been closed for a year now as they had several lawsuits against them that i recall reading in the Alamo Daily News.

Oh man, I can't hep masef....

Yeah, there are abused monkeys in New Mexico. They meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month in the Farmington City Council Chambers. The only reason they're abused however is that they refuse to behave themselves and continually spend the taxpayer's money on foolishness.

Default Song try here....

Hi Song, the only Primate refuge I'd ever heard of in the "southwest" is: www.PrimarilyPrimates.org in San Antonio, Tx.. It's been there for years and in the last few finally got enough donations to buy more land, expand and improve.
Some of the old NASA chimps are there as well as Oliver "the humanzee" tho he's very old and mostly blind now. {a very interesting story with swings of sad to good}. If the chimps you've mentioned are not in NM now, perhaps they were moved there?

But check the website and send them an Email, and ask, as they would be good ones to know the latest news, on any particular abused "wild" animals news etc., and where they might be now. You could always donate to PP
They've got more than just chimps there and really have their hearts into it.

They re-hab alot of chimps. And make it their Forever home.
Which is why they can always use money. {tax deductible btw }

I hope this helps and gives you a 'lead' maybe

Tia Dalma

6/3, I was wondering why I haven't heard anything about it but if it's closed, maybe the monkeys are in Fla. now. Hope so.
