Poor Bobby, he travels all over the US losing to the locals.

While watching the episode, I thought that he was about to win one for a change but ... DENIED! I think that is the whole intent behind the show. Bobby shows up and and adds a little tweak to a food style but the locals seem to judge it based on what is familiar to them, and he loses.

As far as a green-chile cheese burgers go, it's hard for me see a difference in most of them. When I saw what Flay made, I thought "That would be the burger I would want to eat", not that sloppy thing on the other plate.
I've had the Buckhorn and the Owl, along with dozens of others and they are all pretty much the same. I'd even say that the Ranchero Burger that Bob's sells is an equal.

You've got the show concept down . It's entertainment, not a competition, and, Gee Whiz, the local favorite usually wins (at least in the few episodes I've seen), which is analogous to the cowboy in the white hat winning the fast draw on Main St. Bobby leaves humbled but happy, and viewers enjoy a new take on visiting famous dining spots.
I'd still rather see the arm wrestling...

Yep, he looks like he's happy someone else won the challenge. I think if it were me, I'd be happy to see the challenger win. It gives them a big thrill.
He knows he's a star already so to see someone else become one probably makes his day.

Like I said...it's not a competition, it's entertainment. Think of it as Pro Wrestling for Chefs and restaurant owners. The "competition" part of it, the throwdown, is only an angle to increase interest of viewers. And it works, obviously.

True. I don't think BF is sandbagging but he definitely doesn't care if he wins, and that's a good thing.
