Yes, I think NM should have air pollution ordinances if that sort of thing is going on. One of the things I like most about NM is the transparent night sky. I'd hate for it to become merely translucent, like it is in Ft Worth.

I did a google search for Clean Air Act in New Mexico, and all I found was something about a coal burning electric power plant in the 4 corners area.

Does Albuquerque or any other city or county not have exhaust emissions testing for automobiles?

I know some states have air quality standards that are only applicable to certain counties where air pollution is a problem.

Am I correct in thinking that New Mexico is exempt from the Federal Clean Air Act?

"Albuquerque/Bernalillo County has been classified as a nonattainment area for carbon monoxide by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since 1978. In 1983, the area experienced 74 violations of the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for CO. Control measures, such as the vehicle emissions testing and oxygenated fuels programs, and the wintertime NO-BURN program, were instituted to help decrease the amount of CO pollution and reduce the number of violation of the NAAQS.
