Hello,

I hope all is well. I have made travel reservation to vist New Orleans on Friday. We will be coming in by car. Is this wise? Will the city be up and running?

Thanks

Too soon to say, but I'd think it doubtful that this would be a good time to visit, unless you're volunteering with hurricane cleanup. Keep an eye on the news and see what authorities advise. It will be a while before power is restored and you can expect gasoline shortages and high prices, if you can find it available at all. If you do go, take bottled water and food that doesn't need refrigeration along with you.

In your place, I'd reschedule.

Watch CNN or go to www.cnn.com and decide for yourself...it sounds as though most of the place doesn't even have power.

Doesn't sound like my idea of a good weekend.

I agree, I would reschedule, although power is on in the French Quarter and most of the bars and restuarants are reopening Friday.

If you do decide to go confirm your reservations before leaving home.

I've had power since Friday. The city isn't totally back to normal, but the quarter should be fine.
