A group of friends and I have been thinking about ushering in the new year in New Orleans. I've heard that the French Quarter is the place to be, but I guess I'm looking for more detailed responses. Does anyone know of any specific parties, clubs, restaurants, etc. that we just have to go to while we're down there? Any tips about the area in general? Sadly, I've never been there but hopefully that will change this year!

Thanks!

The best part about going out on New Years in the French Quarter is just walking around and bar hopping in my opinion. We usually start with a Reveillon at a nice restaurant, then go to a fancier bar, then go to the much cheaper bars. If you have the money I would definitely suggest going out to eat. There's nothing better than celebrating in a traditionally French/Creole way. There's also gonna be a LOT of people walking around the whole city which makes it really fun.

Getting to and from downtown on New Years eve can be a hassle. RTA falls on its face and cabs are hard to come by.

There's always live music in front of Jackson Square on Decatur leading up to the "fleur-de-lis drop" at midnight. Just make sure that you have a room in the Quarter or CBD and enjoy!
