I'm a single mom with a 15 year old boy. I'm moving to NOLA from Lewisville TX in two weeks to attend Tulane graduate program and work with the Navy. What are some good neighborhoods, schools, and amenities that are inbetween Tulane and the Naval air base?
I've looked somewhat in Terrytown and Timberlane, but can't get a good idea of the area.

Terrytown and Timberlane are part of Gretna which is a suburb just outside of New Orleans on the West Bank. Parts of Terrytown can be sketchy, but it does have its nice spots. Timberlane is a country club and the area around it is pretty nice. Same goes for Stonebridge which is gated. IMO, the area south of Belle Chasse hwy (and more so Lapalco) near Stonebridge and Timberlane is the nicer part of Gretna aside from the downtown portion near the river.
