What's the best place to get a propane tank refilled near Uptown?

not talking about trading one in for a full one but actually getting mine filled up

check for campgrounds. Many of them have facilities to fill up propane tanks.

Why do you need to get one filled? Do you have some sentimental attachment to the tank?

Check for U-Haul places nearby. A lot of times they will refill propane tanks.

Why do I need to get one filled?
Because it's empty.

good idea about Uhaul -- forgot some of them have propane

I think he was referring to trading your old one in for one that's filled. Usually costs about the same. I do it at Lowe's.

And your local Home Depot will swap out that empty one for a brand new full one for about the same as what you would pay to have that one filled.

My question was more related to your comment "not talking about trading one in for a full one but actually getting mine filled up" which made it seem that you have some special meaning attached to your current tank.

It ends up costing less in the long run if you have your own tank and refill it, especially if you use a lot of propane. It's not a dramatic difference though if you only use a little bit now and then.

I always hear people say those trade in tanks only get filled to about 75% capacity, but I have no idea if that's true. What I do know is that with your own tank you don't have to deal with trying to use every last drop out of the tank to get your money's worth before trading it in. With your own tank you can just go top it off before a busy weekend of grilling and not worry about running out.

With that said though I'll probably just start using the trade in tanks when this tank starts to wear out
