Hey so first of all, I am a 20 something year old single female. I am applying for different jobs and few are in New Orleans one near the french quarter. I have been trying to look at areas and apartments a head of time, just to have an idea.

We have streetcars, not trolleys.
It's going to be tough to stay in a decent area at that price point. $800 would be more like it for a nice 1br.

That price range will make it hard to find an apartment in a decent area of the city. But you probably could find something in the 650-700 range if you look. Mid City is a good spot to check out. You could also check out Metairie where the prices are probably a little cheaper. That apartment in Mid City will depend on the exact area since Mid City has good and bad areas.

I figured it would be hard to find a decent place to live on that budget and I honestly don't know what my starting pay will be yet if I get the job...just kind of aiming low right now.
The apartments I saw in Mid City (or at least that's what the website said...) Are these
Falstaff Apartments

New Orleans, LA 70119 Do you know if that's a safe area or not?

Would steer clear of there.
You'll have better luck with your budget finding an apt that is part of a house rather than a complex. "Shotgun" style houses are very common in this area.
