I checked out those places as well when I did my trip in April. You'll find something you like somewhere, no worries!

I am also a SWF with a dog who is moving to New Orleans. I'm a physician and will be working at Ochsner medical center. My budget is from 1500-2000 and would prefer a 2 bed. I'd like to live in a neighborhood that is safe, where I could walk my dog, and where I could go out easily and meet people as I will know no one when moving to the city. It sounds like the Saulet may be an option. Is the lower Garden district a good place to start? Should I be looking more in the business district also?

Thanks!

You will be hard pressed to find a 2 bedroom in the CBD/Warehouse District for less than 2000.

Does the rent in Nola tend to be negotiable? Coming from Miami, we negotiate everything here. The rentals are always overpriced because they expect to be offered less. Does this happen in Nola, or do owners tend to list the firm price?

Everything's negotiable. Some women even negotiate prices on their virginity.
