So angry. After all of this. Because it took so long, I booked multiple costar roles this fall and now my husband and I make just a tiny bit too much in our gross. And really, 42,000 split between 2 people is NOTHING, especially in NYC. However, we then got a second letter saying " we have concluded the section 214 review process and determined that your family is eligible to receive financial assistance. The office will contact you as soon as assistance is available for your family." So one thing saying we make too much and then another saying this? Anyone have any ideas?

My log number is in the high 800s. The lady who interviewed us was extremely helpful and cheerful. I don't know how they broke down the files, but I did see about 15-20 huge files on her floor, and she said those were the ones she's dealing with, and there were many others that were assigned to other case workers.

Just as a side note, since we are all human beings and like to be treated well...they are under pressure and working overtime, so even we went in with lots of frustration, it's probably wise to keep the anger contained within this forum and don't bring it into your interview. Who knows... they may or may not have the power to decide who gets what. So, just to be on the safe side.

FYI- income requirements been lowered to $33,000 or so for 2 people- $29,400 for one. So we were denied. Interesting that i was given a paper stating $41,280 as limit for 2 back in January. Also think it was very mean to show me an apartment in July and say "this is your apartment". This has been a crazy and anxiety inducing process. Happy for those who got units! And hopefully the one designated for us gets into the right hands!

I am so sorry to hear what has happened to you. The entire process has been so long and drawn out that I was also very worried about going over the income with the numerous finanical updates we had to go through. I hope there is an appeal process where you can protest the decision. It makes a big difference if you are self-employed (1099) or if you are an employee (w2). As an employee there is not much wiggle room with regards to income because they use the gross income to make calculations but being self-employed you have more control of your income because calculations are made using net income after the business expenses. My heart truly breaks for anyone who is rejected after a year and a half in limbo. I know it seems bleak, but I would try to get as much info about the appeal process and give it your best shot.

Hi everyone. Havent been here in a while. I recently received calls and emails stating to come in and update my files. I havent heard anything since my home visit months ago. I was wondering if anyone went in recently to update their files and if so what was the outcome?...
Honestly, I was highly frustrated when I received the call because its been so long , so frustrating and Im already under a new lease...
???
PS Congrats to everyone who moved in!!!

Smile Update and outcome

We updated our file two weeks ago and got "The Call" for the official offer a week after the update. Good luck! We moved in yesterday. The building is even better than we thought! Beautiful, quiet, and sun-filled. Have to try out the rehearsal room next!

Default Painters

Hey there! That's awesome you were shown apartments. Best of luck! I know they are working hard to fill the building. I hope you guys get in! I'd love to see your work! :-) Most people I met in the building so far are musicians. You will be an awesome addition!
