I had a log number of 8x (no preference) and was contacted in October requesting documents. I sent them over, turns out they “lost my application” and that’s why I wasn’t contacted sooner so now the only apartments they had available were above my AMI. I chose to decline and get on the waiting list. I was contacted again in November they actually had a 2 bedroom within my AMI, I tell him I’m still interested and we start the process over. I go see the apartment and my file gets sent to HPD early December. I just received a call today. apparently someone with a lower log number than mine was supposed to get the apartment. I can either take a 1 bedroom or be put on a waiting list -__- their one bedroom isn’t big enough for me and my daughter so on the waiting list I go. This is so frustrating. I’ve been waiting SOOO many years for a call and I finally get close only for it not to be it.
What agency are you working with? Losing someone's paperwork is crazy, since you have to send in so much person information. I find it weird that they didn't tell you someone else was next in line. I heard of agencies showing apartments in case the person above them didn't qualify, but they normally tell the potential tenant that, so they don't get their hopes up.
It was for the 1755 Watson Ave lottery. When I got the initial call I was told I didn’t get called sooner cause they lost a few housing connect applications. I found that kind of weird cause everything’s done online. When I went to see the apartment he gave no indication that someone else was ahead of me, I signed the needed paperwork and he told me all that was needed was approval from HPD. I called yesterday for an update, he said he’s still waiting on HPD to get back to him. Now this morning someone ahead of me is supposed to get the apartment
