Hello. This is my first time here. Apologies if this doesn’t being here. I was just asked to submit documents for the Bedstuy central housing sales lottery. My log number was mid-4000’s. A few questions I have:

1. If I elect to submit the employment verification letter in lieu of my six most recent paystubs, will that evade the x52 week calculation of the median of those paystubs that I read about?

2. The income range is for AGI, correct? Or Net?

3. Should I only upload income from my current job or all the W2’s from my tax return? Some jobs were one offs.

4. Will my unborn child be counted as a household member and if so, will they ask for a sonogram?

5. Can I edit my household after my number was called? My mother would be living with me as I take care of her since her heart failure, but she doesn’t have a NY ID. Would she disqualify me? She refuses to update her ID from her sisters (my aunts) home. Do all household members need a NY ID?

(1) It's been a while since I did a sales lottery, but I don't think it's "in lieu of." It's both (plus tax return).

(2) No, gross for salaried workers. Self-employed get to deduct business expenses to get net revenue, though.

(3) Upload everything. Expect them to be confused.

(4) Yes, and no.

(5) You can, but you'll need a justification. "Now caring for aging parent after their health deteriorated" should be sufficient (although, as with everything in this process, you may have to argue for it). Note that her income will be added, though, too.

Another thing to note - if your mom has owned property ever —- anywhere —— in any state —— and if she is listed as a part of your household you will be disqualified. If she has - you shouldn’t add her. There are two threads about this property within the first few pages of this board.

Answers 1-3: yes you can submit the employment form, if you have a copy of a blank one, can you upload it here? I’ve been looking for it. Income is AGI (the number on your W2) plus they have some calculations adding up whatever savings you have. Don’t upload a bunch of random documents, upload your W2. if you worked and paid taxes for that income that is what they are interested in verifying. Doesn’t matter if it was a 2 day job. If it was a job that was legal they need to see that. Even if you worked for cash if you submit bank statements with a weekly deposit they know you have a job.

4. Yes unborn is household hold member. Not sonogram, get a letter from your OBGYN office. It will say something like “X is under my care, is 13 weeks pregnant with due date of X” - doctors signature.

5. You can’t edit your original application but you need to submit corresponding documents for her. So if she gets disability income you have to include that and her identification info. Out of state Id is fine but they later on might ask you to provide some proof she lives with you. Like does her mail come to your house and stuff like that.
