Anyone have experience of transferring the lease over to someone else at end of lease or is that not allowed? The way it's written in the lease sounds like management will have to approve the new tenant, but I'm not sure if the new tenant has to fall into the same ami's as this apartment.

The new tenant would have to qualify same as you. You can’t just transfer the lease.

This query has been asked in one form or another four thousand ways from Sunday, including one such question just within past week or so.

You as tenant don't own anything therefore cannot "transfer" an apartment.

Subject to laws and rules of RS and or building in question certain persons can be added to lease (usually only legally wedded spouses), or gain rights to succeed to an apartment or lease under various situations. All this should be spelled out in original lease and or riders attached. Failing that there is always information from DCHR or other state/city agencies.
