I will be working in Flushing for 2 months and Long Island for 1 month...where is a good central location? Is it better to just live in Flushing and then commute to LI for that month..not familiar with NY at all. I just don't want to have to move twice. Any input would help!

what part of long island? is this temporary? i live in flushing and commutes to LI arent bad because the LIE is right there but depends on what part of LI, plus i assume your driving

Like the above poster you need to provide more details. Is LI job in say Stony Brook? Or place like Great Neck that's stone throw away?

Is money or school district not of concern? etc.

Long Island is really, really long (hence the name). It can take as much as three hours to drive from the easternmost end of Long Island to Queens. We need to know whether you plan to work in Riverhead or Great Neck, or somewhere in between, to be able to give decent advice.
