I've never heard anyone pronounce "Brooklyn" wrong.

Definitely, thumbs up from this native-born Brooklynite!

It would also be nice if someone could get them to understand that real Brooklynites do not appreciate their cutesy imposition of "Dumbo" on our home borough. Wattsamatta with them? Fulton Ferry wasn't good enough? I say, it's criminal negligence that they can't legally be confined to Manhattan.

Hehe I knew I'd get at least one person to back me up....

To the others so far:

a) either you have never spent any time in or interacted with any of the yupsters that now inhabit north brooklyn

b) you have never heard how new yorkers have been talking for longer than my great grandparents were alive (I SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY DOUBT THIS)

or

c) you are a said yupster

In regards to choice c. Whatever, it is what it is. This city is always changing, I get that. It's just frustrating when people come here and claim this place as their own after only a few years, all the while talking like a friggin Californian. There have been a good few articles written about how this area of the country is losing some it's character regarding the dialect due to newcomers (yes, I know. People have always been immigrating here, I understand that).

I just get tired of hearing the "like yah, it's super kewl over in billy-burg" crowd. It's not just in north brooklyn either, it's creeping it's way all across the whole city.

And no, I'm not gonna fackin move if I don't like it. So don't try that. This is a message board and I am just venting.....

I read that they have created some sort of word for my old neighborhood. Carroll Park/Boerum Hill/Cobble Hill.
