I will always call the Triboro the Triboro, and the Queensboro bridge the Queensboro bridge. I wonder what they will try to rename on behalf of Bloomberg once he is gone? The toll plazas?
I agree with SobroGuy. Some names in this town are just not going to be recognized by the majority of people who live here. Hey, look at 6 Avenue in Manhattan--it was officially renamed Avenue of the Americas in 1964...and many (if not most) New Yorkers still know it as 6 Avenue. And you can ask people around Brooklyn for directions to Granville Payne Boulevard, but most of them won't have any idea what you're talking about. On the other hand, if you say you want to get to Pennsylvania Avenue--well, why didn't you say so in the first place?
