My husband and I are moving to the UWS from CT...looking for reputable moving company recommendations...and any helpful tips (NYC related)?? We've moved before, but not to/from NYC.

TIA!

I don't know if it covers long distance move, but I really like Citymove.com. You post a job, get bids from multiple movers and can read their reviews from previous customers. I've used it twice and friends have had good experiences too.

I have used Flatrate a couple of times without incident. They give you a confirmed estimate of the cost before your actual move.

We used All Star moving company from NY to NJ. I was quoted a fixed price and they were great even though the move was 10+ hours.

We used Oz Moving and they were fantastic. We paid exactly what they quoted us and the whole move went very smoothly. Very professional.

I second the Oz Moving suggestion. When I moved within Manhattan (UES to Midtown), they were expedient, safe, courteous, and respectful. You can even fill out a form online detailing everything about your move, and you'll get a call back with a quote. I would go with no one else if and when I need to move again.
