Tony22- I took the SSA exam back in 2009. Back then it wasn't available as a "walk-in" exam as it is now. I passed the exam with a 97.4%. Waited LONG to know my results so long that i had forgotten I took the test and even longer to receive a letter from 1 penn plaza about an interview which doesn't mean you actually are guaranteed a spot. I JUST received my letter like last month.. at this point I'm not even interested anymore.
From what I've read through different blogs.. (as with any other civil service city jobs) its about passing a whole buncha interviews and exams and backgrounds.. also you have to take a physical agility test and pass it just to get INTO the 14 week peace officer training - I read from a poster that even though you go through all the hoops and pass everything you still are not guaranteed to even be called right away - so probably overall its like a 3-4 year wait maybe especially now since the test has gone so popular.
I also took another test.. court assistant or something like that.. and also got a high score 1 year later i got the results via email- lord knows how long it would even take for a call back.
I'm still waiting on my listing # for the MbSTOA (for bus driver) and I paid for that last year sometime.... let's see what happens

Since u recently took the exam, was it hard. Just asking going to take it friday and just a little nervous. Im prior military and really hope to accepted also forbthis pisition. How was it? Is it something to worry about
I am a civil servant and it took 3 years to go from exam to academy. I don't think school safety has that long a wait, but take some other exams in the meantime. Good luck.
