I need help choosing the appropriate neighborhood for me.

I am a 24yr old guy moving to New York due to a job transfer. I will be moving with a friend who has also been transfered. He is working in the upper west side as a school teacher and i am a sales manager with a large territory (Maine to Philly). Obviously, commute won't come into play with my job but he would like to keep his commute around an 30 min. I am interested in a somewhat exciting neighborhood with a budget of $2000 a month (flexable). Idealy we would like to find a three bedroom or flex (one room for an office). It will be imperative that i have a car, therefore i believe anything in manhatten will be out of the question. Please send me in the right direction.

I think Bayside (Queens) is a great area for two young guys outside of Manhattan. The Bell Blvd area has a ton of nightlife but the commute to the UES will be around 45-50 minutes.

BTW, he said UWS.

I'd choose Riverdale or Van Cortland Village.
