If you don't have a job lined up or a place to stay, you may burn through that in about two months.

5000 a month for an income in NYC is doable as long as you are willing to let 40 to 50 percent go to rent. Rent is very high in NYC especially if you want to live close to Manhattan. As a single male seriously consider a roommate to lower rent and utility expenses. Check the classified ads online and in the newspaper for people seeking roommates.

Yes if you are resourceful and flexible. I've known people who have moved here very successfully on far less (withOUT jobs lined up).

You are the one who made several identical posts looking for safe areas in Jamaica right? You don't seem to have down enough research or savings to move to NYC at this point.

Okay, how about more than $5,000 like $20,000, will that still be enough to move and live?
