Hi,

1) How long/time does it take (train wise) to get from Brooklyn, Broadway Brooklyn Williamsburg area, zip 11211 close to the Williamsburg bridge
to Times Square?

How about if you are going to Rockefeller Center?
Is this part of Brooklyn a safe area? Do the trains run on the weekend?

Do the trains run late at night, until 11:00PM or so?

2)Same question for Greenpoint Brooklyn?

3) Same question but from Union Avenue Brooklyn, 11211

4) What about Park Slope area?

Which of the above is the safest, closest to Manhattan?

What area, neighborhood of Brooklyn, would you consider visiting, and or living in on a short term basis (1 year or less) ?
Walking around neighborhood to coffee shops, delis, book store, small
grocery store type of lifestyle, etc.? Safe! And not too pricey

Thanks in advance!

Figure 1/2 hour for your train rides...you won't be far off.

Trains run all night but with significant slowdown after Midnight.

I think Park Slope is the safest area you mentioned.

The best area of Brooklyn is undoubtedly Brooklyn Heights but the real estate, buy or rent, comes at a high price. Generally the farther from Manhattan you go, the lower the price.

For someone asking such specific questions, with zip codes even, it doesn't sound like you've ever been to any of those places before.

Close to Manhattan? Basically, you could see that just by looking at a map. Williamsburg is right on the other side of the East River from Manhattan. But where in Manhattan would you like to be close to?

1. It's safe enough. It's no gated community but like most cities there is the possibility of some crime especially late at night.

Depending on exactly where you are you may be left with only one line running close by that takes you directly into the city, the L, which is often down for maintenance on the weekend. Rockefeller Center is one stop after Times Square.

It takes about 30 minutes on the L but can take longer if it is not running and you need to either take the G to the 7/E or walk to another subway station.

2. Greenpoint is not close to a subway compared to the other areas you mentioned.

3. Don't know.

4. Park Slope is pricier and about 10 minutes further travel.

Everywhere in New York City pretty much has that kind of lifestyle, although the independent bookstore is becoming an endangered species.
