Could anybody tell me which are the best jazz clubs in New York? Some clubs where you can find an old atmosphere and where they play a beautiful jazz live music.. I know the most famous is Village Vanguard, isn't it?
To the above, add Iridium, an intimate club on Broadway and 51st, Birdland, a larger club on 44th between 8th and 9th, and uptown, Smoke ,at Bdway and 106th, and the Lenox Lounge (both are also small) on Lenox Ave and 124th.
I've heard good things about Allen's and Dizzy's, two jazz spots at the Time Warner Center from some musicians I know who've played there. They love the place for the acoustices and set up, so I guess hearing stuff there should be good. But I've never been myself.
I've been to Jazz Standard and I found it as a very good place... I've been to Blue Note in 2001 and I remember was a beautiful club, but I know today is too touristic. So, I have to choose beetwen Blue Smoke and Village Vanguard...
