They are practically useless now. A lot of crack down recently because of this kind of exposure. Which, is what this kind exposure is meant to do.

To be honest it wasn't much use before, maybe get you out of minor traffic infractions, but even then it was hit or miss on who would go that far.

The OP does have a trending NYPD distaste. So be it, it's a forum for open posting. Maybe they should find a job with internal affairs and make a difference?

Then why would you use it? So it's ok for YOU to use it but it's not ok for the cop, who is most likely your relative, to give it to you? nice double standard ya got going there

PBA cards, an easy way to prove your bribery dues are paid

No one has yet the elaborate on the function/intention/purpose of the PBA card.....

What exactly is the source of that article? It's not a well known newspaper or news source. Anyway, no one is denying it's wrong but if YOU had one, would you use it?

HA, never. If I do something wrong and I am caught fair and square than I will plead guilty/admit to it. But if Im wrongfully/unjustly/erroneously than Im fighting tooth and nail.

Only a dirt bag in cahoots with the NYPD crime syndicate would use one of those. That and an America hating filth monger. PBA cards are a despicable display of corruption and anti-civilization.

Tell those contemptible low lives to go back where they came from with their PBA cards.

Wrong.
I got the card from a friend. He's not a cop--
Those cards travel.
Never hadda use it, but hell yeah I'd use it.
Is it wrong?
HELL YEAH it's wrong.
Those cards serve NO PURPOSE other than getting you out of a bind.
...and why should that be legal?
So because somebody's brother is a cop--that person has the right to break the law?

I think that guy in the video should have just wore his seatbelt, instead of making up phony claims about ticket relief.

The function/intention/purpose of those cards is a union identification card.. it's for the union members.

Police don't "honor" them if you are not a police officer, it doesn't do anything but take up space in your wallet.

Stop being used as a pawn to further fuel the resentment of citizen to police and police to citizen. There is no "they" or "them", they're just people like you doing a job for a salary.

If you have an issue with some laws or all laws write a letter to the legislative body of government, you know the people who actually pen the laws you complain about being fined over.

People have issues with crooked cops and cops who believe that they and their friends/family are somehow immune from certain laws.

Truth be told the resentment is only furthered by the fact that all NY'ers know that cops aren't exactly the cream of the crop of society. They're not Ivy league grads or engineers or scientists. They're usually cops because they couldn't get anything better.

The above might be crude but it's true.

Before you claim I don't know this or that, I applied to the NYPD shortly after I graduated college but that year the budget was cut and the class was nixed. They called me back mid last year to offer a position but I was already at my current job so I declined. The vast majority of the folks that I went through the app process with I wouldn't trust to walk my dog. Let alone provide a gun and give authority too.

During my psych exam, the psychologist asked me why a guy with a finance degree and a high GPA would want to become a cop. I asked him whether they'd rather have stupid people apply?

This was during the economic crash when the NYPD had the pickings of better candidates. I can only imagine what type of applicants the NYPD was getting when they were paying 30k during good economic times.

The above is the reality and that's why many distrust cops. I can't blame them.
