true demographics of UWS (school, live in, shop)

I am considering a move from Park Slope to the Upper West Side. Reasons I don't find Park Slope a good fit: baby carriages, baby carriages and more baby carriages. I am in my mid-40's so my pushing baby carriages days are behind me. A better fit for me would be an area where there are more people in my age group and less mommies and daddies aggressively pushing baby carriages.

Anyway, I've visited the UWS many times and I've noticed more people my age walking around. Because it is usually on the weekends I am not sure if I'm seeing the true demographics of the area or if tourists are skewing my observations. Do more people my age live in the UWS (70s-mid-80s)?

Therecare a lot of forty yearolds pushing strollers for the first time in upper west side.

Yes,more people your age live on the UWS than in Park Slope,mostly becuase there are a lot more people.There are also probably a lot more of the stroller brigade because the UWS is and always has been a favorite place for families with children.

You might be happier further downtown.Less strollers there.

I see a lot of parents/nannies walking their children to school and such down here in the west village. i dont know if that bothers you as much as strollers.

Upper west side coffee- Zabars Gourmet Food and Kosher Food Online at Zabars Grab a coffee and a pastry and then go across into the supermarket side for an amazing (and delicious) shopping experience.
