Does anyone belong to a private club that has a fitness center, a reading room or possibly a bar or some sorts?

I want a place in which I can go and read, do a little work and not be bothered with the "Latte/cappuccino" crowd.

Any suggestions?

If you're super-elite, there's the metropolitan club. Otherwise, you might want to find out if your alma mater has a club.

Actually, maybe it isn't such a bad idea--a private club that's a step or two below the most exclusive, essentially a fitness club that also has a room or rooms where one can sit comfortably and read or use the laptop or even have a bar.

Both good suggestions.

reading and doing 'a little work' which I assume is computer-based, can be done at a lot of places where's nice and quiet. You don't need to be part of a club for it, but I'm thinking the OP is looking for something else besides that.
