Does anyone know if there is anywhere (nice, pretty areas of course) in Brooklyn where you can RESERVE a spot ahead of time to have a barbeque? Say, for a company picnic? Or is it all first come, first serve/get there super early? I'm aware of the 20+ people permit and the month of processing it takes (yikes!) But, I haven't found any information on places where/if you can reserve a spot. Help?! And if there is no where that can be reserved, where is the nicest spot to BBQ? (with grills already at the spot) Thank you!

I know there are some grills in prospect park, close to the lake, and in some other areas.

Manhattan beach park also has grills.
This is a nice spot, but it gets crowded pretty quickly.

Most of the grills are pretty gross, so if you plan to used them, you better scrub them well.

I don't think any of them is by reservation, but rather 1st come, 1st served.

I know, but getting there is BROOKLYN, BROOKLYN, BROOKLYN and more BROOKLYN and then you cross the bridge to the park and it's QUEENS for a second and then it's Federal Land.

From what I remember, it's just drive around and set up a spot on the lawn off one of the circling roads. Nothing to reserve.
On a Sunday afterrnoon, it's hundreds of families picnicking.

But I think you must bring your own grille...no brick barbecues on site, no picnic tables.

Don't take any of that as gospel because it has been at least 10 years since I last drove out and the regulations might have changed. As I recall the picnicking families were mostly Hispanic.

(I always loved the place until I decided the Sun was no longer my friend.)
