I've always wondered when I'm wandering around the village or union square or really any area in the city, of what it is like to actually have friends who live out there. I live in Staten island and I know a few people who live out in Brooklyn although I have never visited them as I've never been invited and don't know them well enough to just show up. Anyway back to my original point for making this thread, as I wander around and look up and checkout the different apartments out their some with large whole wall bookcases others with plants I've always wanted to have more friends who live out here in the city to go to the parties at their places or just in general to get some experience of what it's like. Unfortunately I'm not the most outgoing person and tend to be very shy and usually by the time I get the courage to actually say hello the person is normally gone by then. Just wondering those who are on this board and who know many people who live in manhattan and even more city like places in brooklyn and queens what is it like ? Sorry if this seems like an odd question but again I don't actually know anyone who lives in manhattan whether it be up or downtown.
I have friends in the West Village, it is cool, though we don't hit all the parties in that area though, I am way past that era in my life. But I can see the allure of living in that area.
It seems interesting, my grandpa lived in co-op city out in the bronx and I remember going out to visit him finding it interesting the sights and sounds in the apartment building he lived in. I live with 3 other people right now but it seems more like a suburban sort of apt. I rent a room for pretty cheap but would like one of these days to own my own place or rent my own apartment.
All my friends and GF are from Brooklyn, Though I work in Manhattan for years and have done nearly all of the "City" stuff. The city certainly has a lot to offer for recreation. Most travel into the city on a regular basis regardless for this purpose.
There is alot of draw to that part of the city from all sorts of people. People of different races, ranks, creeds, subcultures all try to mingle in the East Village, its really a nice mosaic at best, a true gem. I wish I had friends who lived in the village but who can afford that type of rent in those areas now a days?

Your screen name is way cool by the way!!
thank you I've just blended the two types of things I'm interested in
I don't go out in the city very often to hangout the last time I did I went to The Thirsty Scholar it was a nice place but I just felt most of these bars seem to be clique I guess. It's better to go to these places with friends but most of my friends are either busy or they have gf's so when I go out it's usually on my own
