This may seem like an insensitive question. We're heading to New England on November 10th. My son asked if we could visit NYC on the way home. We've been there before. He absolutely loves it. This would be a fun stop for us, not a rubber necking visit. I thought I better check here to see what you guys think. We would probably stay near Central Park and Times Square.

Kinda too early to tell, but I think NYC would be functional enough for a newbie in a few weeks.

I would think that things would be somewhat back to normal, especially if you plan to do touristy things in Manhattan.

I too think that you will be able to visit without problem although there still may be some lingering issues in Manhattan due to the havoc that Sandy caused.

Lower Manhattan might still have some issues, I just heard the Statue of Liberty will be closed for weeks now. Otherwise, most of it should be back to normal by then.

Thanks! We don't do normal tourist attractions. We usually just walk around and experience it as we go exploring. It's always fun for us.

We covered most of lower Manhattan last time so we can easily focus on other areas instead.

I'm glad you asked this question because I will be there around the same time and did not know how to ask without feeling like I was being insensitive. I have friends in the city and the ones that live in Manhattan around mid-town are fine and with power but my friend the lives on the LES is still without power but she too thinks it would be ok to visit then.
