I will be 22 years old (male). Working in Manhattan. I want to live in an area around people my age where I can easily go out and have fun (bars, clubs, just places to hangout). Any neighborhood suggestions based on my lifestyle preferences and income

Do you have to live in Manhattan? You can live in Astoria or Jackson Hts and still go out in Manhattan.

murray hill and gramercy park. Should be able to get a small 1bdr or studio in that area. If i remember correctly it's a lot of younger aged people.

Also, morningside heights. It's got columbia university students all over there so it's got a lot of the young crowd as well.

Anywhere is a lot more affordable if you get a roomate.

I'd prefer to live in Manhattan. Is a studio plausible with this income?

When I think just out of college I think of Murry Hill in Manhattan. I have a friend (not just out of college) who still lives there because she lucked her way into a pretty inexpensive one bedroom. Whenever I visit her I have to plow through hoards of 20 somethings on the sidewalks. You'd probably need a roommate though as I think most of the studios around there will run a bit high for your income.

But to Forest_Hills_Daddy's point, you'd get way more bang for your buck in places like Queens and it would be a quick and easy commute into the city.

Edit: you actually might be able to get a studio in Murry Hill on your budget. I'm seeing a few listings show up around $1700. That would be at the very top of your range though.

"Washington heights, east of Broadway is such a cool 'nabe'.

Inwood is super 'IN' these days too.

Both of these nabes are on the island of Manhattan. They are full of young people in bars, coffee shops, yoga studios and art galleries.

The other day surfing yelp on my macbook pro I saw they just opened a fair trade, organic bubble tea shop. I am so trying that new place "

I'm 25 and make 90k + bonuses.

This isn't a lot of money in NYC, unless, of course, you cheat the system and pay 700 on rent .

Those places are so far. I want to live in Midtown East/West or somewhere in this area.. I've seen studios going for around ~$1,600..
