LOL the thread you sent him had absolutely no information on Lefrak city... To answer the OP's question... I know a couple of old-timers in that building that have short term memory loss and continue to say that the building is just like a project building and that it's been going down for decades now...

The truth is that that specific complex just like Co-op city in the Bronx used to be far worse in the 90s when gangs in NYC were really starting to make serious noise as opposed to now... That being said, you'll still see of the occasional crime story now and then... Queens Man Becomes City's First Reported Murder Victim In 11 Days - NY1.com

Nowadays, if you keep yourself out of trouble in NYC, unless you live in some real crappy area in ENY, Brownsville, in some cases Hunts Point, E Harlem, C Harlem, E Flatbush, etc. trouble more than likely won't find you... Keep your noise clean and stay away from the dudes you know causing trouble and you'll be more than fine...

The apartments are large. The Neighborhood is OK. Close to Queens Center Mall. I would walk around the neighborhood ounce in the day and ounce at night to get a feel of how it is there first.

Lefrak pro.....
1) Apartments are huge!
2) Right at train station and LIE
3) Queens Center Mall

Lefrak con.....
1) crossing Queens Blvd (if you want to call this a con!)
2) Local stop as opposed to an express stop (if you want to call this a con!)

QM buses also stop behind the building.

Walkable to Rego Center which as COSTCO, Staples, Aldi's, Dallas BBQ and Panera.

This location beats coop city hands down. Their 3-br apartments have balcony and dinning room for $1995. The same thing costs $7000 in New York, New York. Some Hipster could argue Queens is not New York.
