There is a strong possibility I might have to move to NYC for govt work, and itll be most likely a job that requires city residency. I have a car and must have it, no matter where I live. Aside from SI, what are good nhoods to look at in other boroughs, prolly not too dense, easily accessible with mass transit and less complicated parking options? Looking at apts, seems like it's impossible to find anything remotely within financial reach that has its own parking spot, as there are not that many apts like that to begin with so at least maybe I could check out some places with easy street parking, maybe even without street cleaning rules. My other idea was, find whateva place and just rent a parking spot in a legit, multi story garage couple blocks away, since I wudnt need my car that often, is that a good idea?
There are some streets in Glendale which is in Southern Queens that don't have street cleaning and are still within walking distance to a subway station.
Marine Park has decent parking (depending on the block) and it doesn't have street cleaning rules. However, the public transportation isn't that great. You'd likely have to take a bus to the train.
Depending on what you're willing to spend, I think finding a place and renting a spot would be doable as well.
The Pelham Parkway, Morris Park section of the Bronx has available street parking, just have to move your car for street cleaning.. Plus with in walking distance to the subway (2,5 trains) about 40-45 min ride into midtown.
Riverdale has relatively easy parking, and areas that have alternate side are only one day per week. Transportation to Manhattan is via express bus, Metro-North, or a walk/city bus to the 1 subway.

It depends upon the area of the Bronx and type of building as to the value over Brooklyn or Queens. Some buildings in Riverdale could be described as such, but Pelham Parkway would represent a better value in terms of overall apartment size, condition, and location.
