'The Garden has to go' to make Penn Station great, but it won't go quietly | Capital New York

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article...TATE/130409931

I hope they rebuild penn station! The garden is plain ugly. What was destroyed there was a tragedy to humanity!

They could move the garden to the hudson yards and make it a lot nicer.

Nykiddo, help this guy out.

Moyhnihan station supposed to move forward. As for a new MSG, I hope Dolan finds a new sight for the Arena with great subway access for fans and tourist alike. It would be awesome if they can move MSG to the Bronx by Yankee Stadium and demolish one of the those parking lots.

It would still be the NY Knicks. Not like they are the Manhattan Knicks now.

On the outside the garden is ugly I agree. But there have been way too many memories inside of that building and it just got major renovations. It's not going anywhere.

Penn Station is dated yes and badly in need of a makeover.

Before they renovate, they can start by improving the retail. Most of it is lousy when compared with GS. It could use a Zaro's and Pret a Manger.

You mean rebuild the structure that was torn down in the 1960's? Not gonna happen in the near future. There isn't enough inertia from the local and state government for a project like that--and it would be very, very expensive to recreate even a scaled back version of the old Penn Station.

I think its more likely that the Post Office plan will move forward but that building wasn't designed as a train station--and so the end result isn't what people think its going to be.

The Hudson yards plan is set and construction has begun so is no chance that MSG will move there.

Not only is Penn Station really outdated, the ventilation down there is terrible. I mean, I know it's underground, but geez...

See there's good dated and old dated. Good dated:Grand Central. Bad Dated:Penn Station.

Generally most structures built in the 60's or 70's have aged terribly...
