Here's a moment of enjoyable silliness. This site is posits the Manhattan grid going global. So 12,000th Avenue, for instance, would be in the U.K.

Didn't work for me in the link you sent (just saw a map, no grid) but saw this picture on the guy's website:

Now that is absolutely fascinating. The curvature of the Earth really does make it weird, doesn't it?

I was wondering what they were going to do when, going beyond Alphabet City, Avenue Z was surpassed, but they've set up a system of East Avenues for that, with South XXth Streets below the regular ones.

Remember how, in Seinfeld, the corner of E. 1st St. and 1st Avenue is "the nexus of the universe"? Well, I've found several Anti-Nexuses of the Universe where 127,001st Street -- which is more like a point than a street -- meets 80,000th Avenue. One of them is all the way up in Uzbekistan and the other is out near Easter Island. Now I want to go there and plant a flag or something. Provided it's safe to do that and that I don't get sucked into a giant vortex.

This is so amazing. Thanks for sharing!
