Hey, I've been wanting to move to America from England for a ling time now as my dad is American and have always found it fascinating. I've been seeing someone in new york for some time now and am ready in my life to move there however my "google" skills are very lacking and can't find out what I need to get the right type of visa so that I can work there. Any advice on the whole subject from visas to apartments, immigrating and jobs would be very helpful, my girlfriend lives on Staten Island but I also love Manhattan. Thank you

I think you need to post your question on the New York City forum (rather than the NY State forum).
Since your dad is American do you have American citizenship as well?

No unfortunately we have never had contact, Don't think of him as part of this move, I'm doing this completely alone.

You might have difficult time getting a work permit/visa if you are non-American. If you do have the possibility of contacting your American father you might want to do so and see if you are eligible for American citizenship through him.
