Maybe the closest thing might be Queensboro Plaza. When I think of downtown areas, I think about gov't office, large companies, etc.

In Queensboro Plaza you have the following:
Large Companies
-Citibank has a very large corporate office there
-Jetblue has their headquarters there

Gov't Office:
-Department of Health has a fairly large office there

Um.....Perhaps they should relocate some of the Queens courts to Queensboro Plaza and then it might be considered more downtown.

Downtown Jamaica Queens seems kind like a downtown, maybe around union turnpike by the court house.

Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded.

There's also Main Street in Flushing and Bell Blvd in Bayside.

Keep in mind that Queens developed as a collection of small communities, similar to Nassau County (which was part of Queens until 1898).

Each community had its own "downtown" area.

I too think either Flushing or Jamaica could be considered the downtown area/s of Queens.

I agree Queens has several - LIC/Qns Plaza, Jamaica, Flushing, Elmhurst (think Qns Blvd/Woodhaven area).

in the BX - typically associates Manhattan as being "Downtown"... Unlike SI, Qns and BK that associates Manhattan as "The City"
