If you have so little to complain about in life that you feel this deserved a thread, then lucky you. At least it gave me a laugh.
I don't think anyone is beneath me. I'm just tired of them addressing me in that manner.

Please, please Lord don,'t let the OP be at one of the places of employment I plan to work.

My God, talk about thinned skinned.

As others have said, just wait until you're called ma'am especially by a 20 something.

Umm... Guess what? You really don't have any power to enforce what someone calls you in public. I am black. Can I just sue or punch out every person that ever called me out of my name, even if it is the N word?? Nah... Not even in America. Maybe you have a cute baby face. But still, try to get over yourself and stop translating "sweety" into profanity. There are far worse things you could be called in NY. Trust me!

When someone addresses you in this manner, you know that they are serious, and it is a sign of respect. "Sweety," "Honey," "Sugar," etc, are terms that are used to address little girls, not a professional adult woman.

Umm, perhaps you should go back and re-read what you wrote. When you refer to people as "service people", it comes off as though you're better than them. I think in another response you mentioned something about them not receiving "proper training".

You're a lawyer. So what?

Funny you say that. I found that people who work in the food industry often refer to patrons as something endearing, especially when it's a regular customer. Makes people feel at home and with good service and friendliess, customers will appreciate it more.

nobody really cares what you are. you kick up dust behind
yourself just like everyone else walking in front of you. it's
really not that serious.

you could just talk to the manager if you have a gripe tho,
but he might look at you like you're silly for wasting his time.
