SoBroGuy is a small time landlord in the South Bronx, so he deliberately pumps the area. Anyone not financially invested in the area will be honest with you. The South Bronx is ghetto. I'm a 6'2" Black guy, and when I lived in the Bronx I avoided the area (except for the times I had to go to civil court). Outside the area immediately next to Yankee Stadium and around the Hub, the South Bronx is ROUGH!
Coming home in the evening once, the 2 train halted. The conductor had told us someone got shot on the 2 train in the South Bronx. Going on the 2 train on the AM rush hour I saw two adult women fight.
So yeah, its gotten better from what it was in the late 80s/early 90s (but so has every urban area). But its got a long way to go and most Blacks and Hispanics who don't live in the hood and who don't have a financial interest would tell you to avoid the area. Maybe have this man meet with you in Manhattan and work things out from there.
And I'm a 6'2" Black make avoids that area, I would definitely recommend a lone white female avoid that area.
Thank you all for the input! I will take a little bit of what everyone said into consideration. We are going to meet in Manhattan. If it becomes something serious, I guess I'll have to venture in at some point...but just make sure I come and go with them. I know it's not Beverly Hills, but it doesn't sound quite as bad as I thought!
