What's worse, owing favors to those that helped you get elected? Or purchasing pretty much everything on your agenda due to vast wealth and basically owning the media?

I don't really know the answer to that...

Depends on what it is being purchased and if it aligns with the good of the public. Can you point to specific initiatives that were not in the public interest? I think definitely the Soda ban was a dumb idea and a total overreach but besides that pretty everything has been good for NYers

Well I disagree. If a restaurant or bar wants to allow smoking, they should be allowed to. And people don't have to go to said restaurant/bar if they don't want to. There are literally thousands of others to choose from. Last I checked, cigarettes were legal right?

Are the pedestrian plazas and sectioned off bike lanes good for everybody or for some? These are just a couple off the top of my head. You're parroting his nanny BS, and I take issue with it.

This is coming from a non-smoker who owns a cannondale caad-9, for the record.

Cigarettes are a legacy right that's for all intents & purposes been grandfathered in. If it were introduced today, yes it would be illegal. If we accept your argument for one minute that patrons are free to dine at another restaurant, you are still subjecting the restaurant staff to that secondhand smoke and they often have no alternative but to subject themselves to it night in and night out to keep their job

Poor people cannot get rich of charity. They ultimately need EMPLOYMENT. That's the only way out of poverty.

No, they should not be allowed to. Smoking was banned in every other workforce or place. The ban on smoking should be consistent, and it is.

Also, I worked in hospitality years ago (restaurant/wine bar). I'm pretty happy they got rid of smoking as I had no interest in inhaling other people's smoke which causes HEALTH problems for other patrons and EMPLOYEES. If a smoker needs to smoke, go outside or smoke in their own houses.
